Lowe’s hires merchandising exec from Family Dollar
A former Family Dollar executive has joined Mooresville-based Lowe’s Cos. as senior vice president and general merchandising manager for the company’s seasonal product business.
Jocelyn Wong’s new post is effective Oct. 12, Lowe’s said in a statement Monday. She will report to Chief Merchandising Officer Michael McDermott.
Previously, Wong served as senior vice president chief marketing officer at Family Dollar since 2012. Virginia-based Dollar Tree completed its $9.1 billion purchase of the Matthews-based dollar store chain in July.
In her new role, Wong, a Purdue University graduate, will be responsible for merchandising strategies for lawn and garden, seasonal living and outdoor power equipment divisions, Lowe’s said.
“Jocelyn’s experience in marketing, merchandising and product management will help us deliver outstanding customer experiences in an omni-channel environment,” McDermott said.
The second biggest home improvement retailer in the U.S., Lowe’s operated 1,846 stores in North America as of July 31. The company expects to add 15 to 20 home improvement and hardware stores this year.
