Duke Energy names former Comcast exec to board

Duke Energy has named Michael Angelakis, former Comcast Corp. vice chairman and chief financial officer, to its board.

Angelakis, 51, is now a senior advisor to Comcast’s executive management committee and deputy chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

At Comcast from 2007 to this July, Angelakis oversaw the media and technology company’s strategic planning, corporate development, investor relations, taxation and internal and external reporting units.

Institutional Investor magazine named him to its list of best CFOs six times during his tenure.

Angelakis will soon become chairman and chief executive of a new strategic company he’s forming in partnership with Comcast, focusing on investing in and operating growth-oriented companies.

He will join Duke’s board on Oct. 1, serving on the finance and risk management committee and the audit committee.
