Queens University of Charlotte honors Susan DeVore of Premier Inc. as BusinessWoman of the Year
Susan DeVore, chief executive and president of Premier Inc., is Queens University of Charlotte’s 2014 BusinessWoman of the Year.
DeVore is the 30th woman to be honored with the award, which recognizes exceptional professionals who exhibit leadership and community commitment.
In 2013, DeVore guided Premier, a health solutions company headquartered in Ballantyne, to its stock market debut, raising $874 million in the largest initial public offering for a Charlotte-based company since at least 1980.
Queens cited DeVore’s 30 years of experience in the health care industry, including being named to Modern Healthcare magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list.
She joined Premier in 2003 and became CEO in 2009. DeVore’s community roles include a range of leadership posts with local and national health care organizations, and serving as an executive committee member of the Charlotte Chamber.
“Susan is a leader in the healthcare industry, both in the Charlotte region and nationally,” Queens President Pamela Davies said in a statement. “Premier’s growth and success have contributed to increasing our city’s profile as an outstanding center for healthcare.”
Previous winners include Lynn Good of Duke Energy, Laura Schulte of Wells Fargo, Observer Publisher Ann Caulkins, Time Warner Cable’s Carol Hevey and Cathy Bessant of Bank of America.
DeVore, who will receive the award at a March 9 luncheon at Queens, said in a statement she is “humbled and honored” to receive the award.
“Words cannot describe the incredible year we’ve experienced at Premier,” DeVore said. “Our quest toward improving healthcare in this country benefits people and families across the nation, including those in our community.”
