Airline computer outage grounds passengers at airport
A system-wide American Airlines computer outage left hundreds of passengers grounded at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and elsewhere early Saturday.
The outage began about 6 a.m. and lasted about an hour. By 8 a.m., Charlotte Douglas tweeted that passengers needed to check the status of their flight before coming to the airport – with the outage causing delays.
At 9:30 a.m., the airport tweeted again: “@AmericanAir ops are beginning to return to normal please continue to check with the airline before coming to the airport.”
The outage kept passengers from checking in, and the airline from being able to scan baggage and boarding passes.
