Postal workers food drive to be held Saturday
The annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sponsored by The National Association of Letter Carriers will be held Saturday, with postal workers picking up bags of donated food at mailboxes.
The event is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. Last year, letter carriers collected over 81,000 pounds of food in the Charlotte area.
Specially printed grocery bags are being provided by Publix Super Markets to homes in the Charlotte area for participation. Fill the bag with non-perishable food items such as canned meat, canned fruit, canned pastas and cereal. Then leave the bag by your mailbox Saturday for your letter carrier to collect.
The items will be donated directly to help Loaves & Fishes and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina feed hungry people in the community. Mark Price
