Massive fire at NC salvage yard causes huge plume of black smoke

It is unclear what caused a fire at business in Rowan County Wednesday afternoon.

The fire is underway at the Holmes Iron & Metal salvage yard in the 600 block of North Long Street in Salisbury. Smoke can be seen for miles.

Multiple fire departments are responding to the blaze.

Lots of loud pops have been reported.

There’s no word on whether anyone was injured.
