Church ‘total loss’ after massive fire engulfs building Monday in Iredell County

A massive fire destroyed a church in Iredell County early Monday morning.

Old Western Avenue Baptist Church was engulfed with flames as firefighters work to extinguish the fire.

Statesville Fire Department says the building is a “total loss” due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation however official say it will not likely be determine for some time due to the extensive damage.

Officials have not confirmed if anyone was injured as a result of the fire.
