Man’s body recovered from High Rock Lake
Rescue crews recovered the body of a missing swimmer in Rowan County Friday morning.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office family members of the victim, later identified as 49-year-old Ted Alexander Gardner of Salisbury, went into the water for a swim. They say he swam out about 50 yards from the bank before they heard him call out in distress. Family members say they saw him go under, but never saw him resurface.
By 7 a.m., rescue crews found Gardner's body.
Crews used seven rescue boats during the search, including ones equipped with sonar technology.
