Charlotte traffic: Truck fire shuts I-485
A truck fire closed the Interstate 485 outer and inner loops south of Harris Boulevard before Beatties Ford Road Wednesday morning.
The innermost lane of the outer loop reopened about 9 a.m., but morning-long delays were expected as crews continued to clean up fuel from the highway.
Earlier Wednesday, a fatal motorcycle wreck closed a stretch of Idlewild Road in Matthews, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner. Police have not released the motorcyclist’s name.
The motorcycle wrecked at Idlewild Road’s intersection with Dan Hood Road-Rice Road.
Medic, meanwhile, reported taking one patient with minor injuries to Carolinas Medical Center from an earlier wreck on I-85 at Freedom Drive.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were at an injury wreck at Old Statesville Road and eastbound I-485 inner loop. The wreck happened about 6 a.m.
