Gastonia police search for suspects in the fatal shooting at Gastonia motel

Gastonia police are looking for the killer of 29-year-old Cheeontah Howard, found fatally shot outside a Gastonia Red Carpet Inn late Friday morning.

Police told WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, that officers responded to the shooting at the hotel off Interstate 85 and U.S. 321 before noon and are reviewing motel video of some of the incident.

They don’t believe it was a random shooting, but by Friday evening didn’t know what led to it.

Police said they are looking for two men and a woman seen driving away from the motel in a silver hatchback just after the shooting.
