Another person drowns in Lake Norman
One person has died after drowning in Lake Norman Sunday evening.
Officials initially reported that they had rescued the swimmer, who was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The drowning happened in Lake Norman off Island Forest Drive.
Huntersville Fire Department tweeted that the person was recovered after an estimated 10 minutes underwater.
Cornelius police say the person was taken to the hospital after rescue crews cared for the patient at the scene.
Officers said this incident is the third death in Lake Norman in the last week. This one did not involve a boat.
Few other details are known about what led to the drowning.
Cornelius police are investigating.
