Gaston County teen dies after being struck by car

A 14-year-old died after witnesses said he darted in front of a vehicle in Gaston County on Friday morning, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol. Steven Canipe was struck about a half mile from Cramerton Middle School, where troopers said he was a student. Canipe was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in critical condition. He was then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. WBTV
