CMPD continues to investigate man’s death
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police continued to search for clues Saturday into the death of a man from blunt force trauma.
Police said the man, identified as Adam Kent Smith, 24, approached officers who were conducting traffic control in the 400 block of West Morehead Street on Wednesday. Smith complained of medical issues, and police said they called for Medic, which took Smith to Carolinas Medical Center. He later died at the hospital.
The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Smith died as a result of blunt force trauma, police said.
Smith was about 4-foot-3 and 85 pounds. He had achondroplasia, or dwarfism, police said.
Police are seeking information from the public on Smith’s whereabouts Wednesday.
Smith was last seen in the area of Mint and Morehead streets wearing gray sweatpants and a multicolored sweater.
Anyone with information about the last-known whereabouts of Smith is asked to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and speak with a homicide detective. Detective J. Hoppe is the lead detective in the case. Or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
