Woman charged in boyfriend’s shooting death
Police arrested and charged a 22-year-old woman in the shooting death of her boyfriend Tuesday in southeast Charlotte.
Anthony Lamont Howie, 33, died about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Skyland Avenue as the result of a domestic dispute, police said. Howie was pronounced dead at the scene. Skyland Avenue is between Randolph and Monroe roads.
Police later spotted a vehicle being driven by Howie’s girlfriend, Shirley Takeisha Martin. She refused to stop but drove back home, where she was arrested, police said.
Martin was charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, failure to heed a blue light and siren, operating a motor vehicle to elude arrest and resist, obstruct and delay law enforcement. She also was cited for two counts of failure to properly secure a child in a child passenger restraint system.
Police said the two children in Martin’s car were uninjured.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and speak with a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
