Man used card scanner at Lake Wylie Walmart, sheriff’s office says
A woman said someone stole $55 from her at a Lake Wylie Walmart by using her debit card information without her knowledge.
The York County Sheriff’s office is searching for a man who obtained the victim’s card information through a card scanner when he was standing behind her in line at the Walmart.
The man bought beer and other items worth $55, according to the sheriff’s office.
York County Sheriff Bruce Bryant warned the public of electronic pickpockets. These pickpockets obtain your card information by standing nearby with an electronic scanner and cloning your card information, according to the sheriff’s office.
