2 men charged in Kannapolis fatal shooting
Kannapolis police have arrested and charged two Kannapolis men in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Solomon Gebrezgi of Charlotte Monday evening at the Cabarrus Arms Apartments off Richard Avenue.
Police charged Chay Johnson, 25, and Oscar Leonard Jarmon, 20, with first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a weapon into occupied property (a vehicle).
Police are searching for other persons of interest in connection with the shooting, Police Chief J.W. “Woody” Chavis said Tuesday.
A 911 call came in about the shooting at 6:10 p.m., but the victim had already been taken from the area when police arrived.
Police said they soon found Gebrezgi, with gunshot wounds, in a vehicle on South Main Street near Briarcliff Drive.
Gebrezgi was taken by Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast, where he later died.
Chavis, citing the investigation, declined to release further information about the case, including whether the victim knew the suspects.
