Second man charged in fatal Davis Avenue shooting

One man died and two others were charged with murder after a shootout inside a home on Davis Avenue in west Charlotte, police said.

Montreal Forman, 25; and Shawn Joneal Savage, 27, were charged with murder in connection with the death of Robert Griffin, 29, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police received a call about an assault with a deadly weapon about 11:10 p.m. Saturday. Officers at the scene found Griffin and Forman inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic. Forman was taken to the hospital. The motive for the shootings was not reported.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, as Forman was being released from the hospital with a nonlife-threatening injury, police charged him with murder. He was being held in Mecklenburg jail late Sunday without bail. Savage was charged around 7 p.m. Bail information was not available for him Sunday.
