Lanesboro prison guard charged with providing heroin to an inmate
A correctional officer at Lanesboro Correctional Institution in Polkton was arrested this week on charges that include conspiring to deliver heroin to an inmate, court records show.
Officer Scarlette King Hodges, 28, also was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance on the premises of a prison, possession with intent to , manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, and providing tobacco/vapor to an inmate, records show.
Polkton is about 45 miles southeast of Charlotte.
Polkton police arrested Hodges in cooperation with the SBI and Lanesboro Correctional Institution, said Keith Acree, spokesman for the N.C. Department of Public Safety.
Hodges is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
She earned $29,826 a year as a correctional officer, state records show. She joined the prison system in June 2012, Acree said.
