Statesville man arrested in teenager’s shooting death at a party

A Statesville man turned himself in at the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday in connection with the April 2 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Emmanuel Terrell Teasley at a party.

Christopher Antonio Moore Jr., 24, was jailed without bail at the Catawba County Detention Center.

Statesville police said Teasley was shot in the head at a home in the 100 block of South Lackey Street. He was pronounced dead by Iredell County EMS paramedics.

The shooting happened during a fight, police said.

Police had obtained warrants for Moore’s arrest on a charge of murder.

“During the investigation, the community provided a tremendous amount of assistance in identifying the suspect in the case,” police said in a news release.
