A man has life-threatening injuries after he was shot outside a nightclub near uptown Charlotte early Thursday, police said.

The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. after a fight among several people in the Oak Room night club spilled into the parking lot, police said.

The private dance club and lounge is in the 200 block of East Bland Street, off South Tryon Street in South End.

Police said the man had gunshot wounds – police haven’t said how many – and was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center. Police haven’t released the man’s name.

No one is in custody, police said. Police were canvassing the area for witnesses.

The Bottle Cap Group, which owns the Oak Room and other South End restaurants and night spots, declined to comment about the shooting.
