No school Tuesday for CMS students
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed for students again Tuesday, and teachers and staff will have an optional teacher workday beginning at 10 a.m.
The school district said it deployed more than 50 snow plows Monday and was able to clear more than 100 school campuses of icy conditions. However, more than 50 of the campuses across the county still have icy bus and staff parking lots, sidewalks, school entryways and mobile unit areas that pose a safety challenge to students and employees, the district said.
The After-School Enrichment Program also will be closed, and all school events and athletic activities are canceled. The make-up day for students will be Monday, April 25, except for Druid Hills Academy and Thomasboro Academy, which will not make up the student day.
CMS maintenance and support crews will continue working to clear the remaining campuses, the district said.
