A Colorado man died after taking a scuba lesson with family in Hawaii, police said.

Greg Durocher, 51, from Castle Rock, spent nearly 40 minutes in the water June 30 off Waiolena Beach Park “before returning to shore, complaining of difficulty breathing,” the Hawai‘i Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Soon after, “Durocher became unresponsive,” police said.

His family and the dive master started CPR, and then medics took over treatment and got him to a hospital, police said.

However, he was pronounced dead not long after being admitted.

Police said they don’t suspect foul play, and they’ve asked for a coroner’s inquest to establish what caused his death.

Waiolena Beach Park is in Hilo on the island of Hawaii.
