Roberts and Peacock to square off in Observer/WBTV debate
Charlotte’s mayoral candidates will face each other Wednesday at The Charlotte Observer/WBTV debate, sponsored by Duke Energy, at McGlohon Theater in Spirit Square.
Democrat Jennifer Roberts and Republican Edwin Peacock will answer questions from a panel of journalists: Eric Frazier, The Charlotte Observer; Keith Larson, WBT radio; and Katie Toussaint, CharlotteFive.com. The event is free and open to the public. Spirit Square is at North Tryon and Seventh streets.
WBTV anchor Jamie Boll will moderate, and anchor Brigida Mack will field audience questions. WBTV will air the debate live on CharlotteObserver.com, WBTV.com and on Bounce, Channel 1255 on Time Warner Cable.
The one-hour debate starts at 7:30 p.m. Topics will include development, crime and transportation, including toll roads. The audience will be able to ask questions throughout the forum.
Lightning rounds will include lighter topics such as the Panthers’ Super Bowl chances and their favorite local coffee shop.
If you go
Before the 7:30 p.m. debate, you’re also invited to a free meet-the-candidates reception hosted by Duke Energy in the Spirit Square atrium. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and ask Peacock and Roberts your own tough questions. Reception begins at 6:15 p.m.
