Ron Kimble to become interim Charlotte city manager effective July 1
The Charlotte City Council Monday named Ron Kimble as interim city manager effective July 1.
Kimble, who has worked for Charlotte since 2000, is now the deputy city manager, a job he has had since 2007.
City Manager Ron Carlee told council members in February he wouldn’t seek a contract extension. But he did agree to a short-term contract that allowed him to work until the city’s budget is finished in early June.
Carlee will receive a $25,000 bonus for working through the end of June.
The city has hired the firm Ralph Andersen & Associates to help them recruit and select a new manager. The city is accepting applications through July 8.
