A man was arrested on a felony child abuse charge after he mistakenly butt-dialed a toddler’s mother, police said.

The child was visiting at the home of John Elias Taylor III and was begging him to not whip him, police Capt. Marty Griffin said.

The mother called police, who went to the house to check on the boy.

“He had some bruising in places he shouldn’t have had it,” Griffin said.

Police arrested Taylor on Sunday. He was booked at the Harrison County jail.

Taylor was held on a $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
