North Carolina, Pitt on Davidson’s nonconference basketball schedule
Davidson’s nonconference men’s basketball schedule for next season continues to shape up and will include a game against Pittsburgh in New York’s Madison Square Garden and another against North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
The Wildcats will play the Panthers on Dec. 20 as part of the Gotham Classic. The Davidson-North Carolina game is set for Dec. 6 at the Smith Center.
The Wildcats have several other games lined up, but dates have not been set. Davidson will play its annual rival game against Charlotte at the 49ers’ Halton Arena on Dec. 3.
Davidson will host three other Gotham Classic games at Belk Arena (dates yet to be determined) against Eastern Washington, Morehead State and Western Carolina.
The Wildcats will also play “return” games at home against College of Charleston and Central Florida, as well as another home game against Mercer.
Wildcats coach Bob McKillop said he expects to schedule two or three other nonconference games.
The Atlantic 10 recently announced each team’s conference-game pairings: Davidson will play home-and-home series with Duquesne, George Mason, George Washington, Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth; home games with La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Saint Joseph’s and road games against Dayton, Fordham, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis.
