Sun Valley quarterback Sam Howell, a rising junior, got an offer from North Carolina Wednesday.
Howell, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, participated at teams camps at Clemson and Notre Dame last weekend. The Tar Heels were his 14th offer. He got his first offer late last year from Maryland. Howell also has offers from schools like Kentucky and Tennessee plus the following in-state schools: App State, Charlotte, East Carolina, N.C. State and Wake Forest.
Last season, Howell was named Southern Carolina offensive player of the year for the second time and he’s a two-time Union County player of the year. In 11 games last season, he completed 199-of-322 passes for 3,217 yards and 38 touchdowns. He had seven interceptions.
