Weddington High basketball star Ryan Schwieger commits to Princeton

Weddington High senior guard Ryan Schwieger has committed to play college basketball at Princeton.

Schwieger, 6-foot-6, is ranked No. 8 among seniors in the class of 2017 by Phenom Hoop Report, which closely follows N.C. high school recruiting.

Schwieger played over the summer with Pro Skills Elite. Last season at Weddington, he was named Southern Conference player of the year and second team all-district. Union County hoops named him the county player of the year. For the season, he averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists. Schwieger made more than 60 percent of his 2-point field goal attempts.
