Panthers kicker Graham Gano stays on ‘pointe’ after suffering ‘ballerina’ injury
Graham Gano, NFL placekicker and ... the next member of the Charlotte Ballet?
Not exactly, but Gano suffered some discomfort in his plant foot on Sunday night that required a bit of a look by medical staff.
“It got sore,” laughed head coach Ron Rivera on Monday afternoon. “You know, and in all serious kidding-ness here, they termed it as a ‘ballerina thing.’ From the ballerinas, you know, they use their plant foot.
“Graham is gonna kill me for having said that. But when I asked what happened, that’s the description I got.”
It didn’t really affect his performance on the field. Gano was hit four field goals on four attempts with a 45-yard long and was perfect on point-after attempts, contributing to 14 of the team’s 28 points.
Carolina beat the Chargers 28-16.
