What he offers: Artis-Payne is a tackle box runner, meaning he’s not going to kill you with speed on the edge. He makes one or two moves, picks his spot and runs. The Panthers view him as potentially having the ability to be the backup to Jonathan Stewart.

Worth mentioning: He will be 25 at the start of the season, which is old for a rookie running back. He took two years off between prep school and community college working odd jobs as he matured. ... He rushed for 1,608 yards last season, which was the third-best season for a rusher in Auburn history. ... He had 221 yards on 30 carries against Texas A&M.
