Brenton Bersin, Damiere Byrd make Panthers’ practice squad
It's like they never left.
The Carolina Panthers filled their 10-man practice squad with players they released Saturday.
Leading the group is receiver Brenton Bersin, who last year had 13 receptions for 151 yards and one touchdown. Bersin, a Charlotte Latin and Wofford graduate, spent the 2013 season on Carolina's practice squad.
Also headlining the group is outside linebacker Adarius Glanton. Glanton was waived along with veteran linebacker Jason Trusnik after the Panthers kept rookie David Mayo and special teams player Ben Jacobs.
Canadian offensive tackle David Foucault also signed with the practice squad. He started in the Thursday night loss to the Saints last year when he was thrown into the fire and played poorly. Carolina coaches believe the 6-foot-7, 305-pounder still has upside due to his late learning of the American game.
Receiver/returner Damiere Byrd, defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, linebacker Brian Blechen, cornerback Carrington Byndom, defensive end Rakim Cox, tight end Scott Simonson and cornerback Lou Young also signed with the practice squad.
