Seattle safety Kam Chancellor fined $23,152 for spearing Panthers’ Ryan Kalil

The NFL fined Seattle safety Kam Chancellor $23,152 for spearing Panthers center Ryan Kalil in the second quarter of Carolina's win last weekend, a league spokesman said Friday.

Chancellor was running to tackle running back Fozzy Whittaker on a screen play when he lowered his head into Kalil's chest, knocking him to the ground. Kalil left the game for one play before returning.

Chancellor, who had a lengthy holdout that ended in September, was not penalized on the play.
