For the second time in three weeks, Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis’ name could be found near the bottom of the defensive statistics sheet.

Davis finished Sunday’s 27-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans with no tackles and one quarterback hit. It marked the first time since 2005 – Davis’ rookie season – that he did not have a tackle in a game in which he played.

“That was jus the way the game flowed,” defensive coordinator Sean McDermott said Monday. “Sometimes you get those situations in games and that’s just kind of the way the game came out. You look a week before that, he had one of the top productions on the defense. And this week I’m sure he’s determined to get back in that category again.”

In Week 8 against the Colts, Davis had two tackles in the overtime game as Indianapolis ran its offense away from the outside linebacker.

But in Week 9, Davis had six tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits and a game-sealing interception in a victory over Green Bay.

Sunday against the Titans, Davis seemed to be taken out of plays by tight ends or offensive tackles. After a handful of plays Davis would plead with an official for a holding penalty.

“There was a lot of that (holding) going on. The refs were allowing us to play,” Davis said after the game. “I have to do a much better job of not getting frustrated when the calls don’t go my way when I feel like it should. I’ll do that. Understanding that I’m in a leadership role on this team, I can’t allow myself to react like that when a call doesn’t go my way.”
