It’s going to be a busy weekend for Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.

McDermott is scheduled to interview for the head-coaching vacancies with Tampa Bay and Cleveland, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Friday.

McDermott, 41, is set to meet with the Buccaneers on Saturday before sitting down with the Browns on Sunday. Both interviews will take place in Charlotte, according to a league source.

Rivera said he’s glad McDermott is getting the opportunities. The Panthers have finished in the top 10 in total defense the past four seasons, and they led the league with 39 takeaways this season.

“He’s done a nice job. It’s nice to see that he’s getting some recognition and we’ll see how it goes,” Rivera said. “It’s that time of year and this is a good time if you’re going to do it when you’re in the playoffs.”

Rivera said he doesn’t know of any scheduled interviews for offensive coordinator Mike Shula, who was linked to the Dolphins’ opening several weeks ago.
