The scoop: The Panthers signed Hawkins to a futures contract in January after he had stints on the Miami and San Francisco practice squads last season. Hawkins, an undrafted free agent in 2014, spent his entire rookie season on the Cowboys’ 53-man roster, appearing in one game. He has a big frame with decent footwork, and had a good showing during one-on-one pass-block drills Monday. He’s competing with Daryl Williams and David Foucault for the Panthers’ third tackle spot, behind starters Michael Oher and Mike Remmers.
