Play (and perhaps win a championship) at Panthers’ stadium
Let’s face it: You will NEVER play for the Carolina Panthers.
But the team is, once again, offering fans a unique opportunity to play where the Panthers play. Registration opened this week for the 13th annual Miller Lite Weekend Warrior Flag Football Tournament, set for April 16-17 at Bank of America Stadium and the team’s practice fields on nearby Cedar Street.
The basics:
▪ It’s a four-on-four, non-contact tournament for ages 21 and older and features four divisions: Weekend Warrior, Couch Potato, 35 & Over and Co-Ed.
▪ All teams will play at least three games on the first day of the tournament. Half of the teams will advance to Championship Day, which will be a single-elimination format.
▪ Members of the winning teams in each division will receive custom-made championship rings that the Panthers say are “equivalent in quality to most state high school football championship rings.”
▪ Registration is $360 per team, with proceeds benefitting the USO of North Carolina.
▪ The tournament is limited to 128 teams of six (four players plus two substitutes) and has sold out every year, so teams are encouraged to register early. The deadline to sign up is March 11.
