The Ultimate Fighting Championship is coming back to Charlotte for the first time in nearly eight years.

UFC Fight Night will take over uptown Charlotte’s Spectrum Center on Saturday, Jan. 27, in an event that will be televised on Fox.

A spokesperson for the organization said the card has not been determined yet, but emphasized “it’ll be a big one, with a really good main event.”

Tickets go on sale Dec. 15 at www.spectrumcentercharlotte.com.

The UFC last brought mixed martial artists to Charlotte on March 31, 2010, when former Boston College soccer player Kenny Florian choked Japanese star Takanori Gomi into submission in the main event at Bojangles’ Coliseum.
