Development for your taste buds: New Reid’s, hot dog and beer joint and wine shop on East
A few development updates:
Reid’s coming to SouthPark: The old City Tavern outside the mall will be home to a new Reid’s Fine Foods, which is usually beyond our budget but still lovely to walk through.
Reid’s is famed for its meats, gift baskets – and the Gov. McCrory vs. Reid’s employee spat last year at the Selwyn Ave. (The cook, unhappy with the Guv’s policies, told him unsolicited “Thanks for nothing.” The Guv reportedly got mad and yelled at him. The cook got fired.)
The store will be about 8,200 square feet, employ around 50 people and open no later than Oct. 1.

Hot dogs and beer: The former Subway in Brevard Court is turning into something much cooler: a hot dog and beer joint. According to a sign posted at 135 Brevard Court, Queen City Beer & Chili (QCBC) is moving in. A growler shop appears to be coming next door, too.
QCBC offers Midwestern-style chili, hotdogs and burgers. The new bar/restaurant is next to Melt in Your Mouth Cupcakes and across from Pho Plus, all off Church Street behind the Latta Arcade.
Wine on East: Foxcroft Wine Co. is opening its second location in Kenilworth Commons, off East Boulevard. (The original is on Fairview.) Expect 3,500 wine selections, including 40 available for tasting. It will also have 12 brews on tap. A small plate menu makes it an evening out.
Construction to start in May.
