These familiar shops have a new identity: Your guide to South End’s Shops at the Winnifred
The name may be unfamiliar, but you’ve likely been here before.
South End’s new Shops at the Winnifred are simply a rebranded Centro Railyard.
This means a new social media and web presence for 15 of Charlotte’s micro-retailers. The shops are located on the bustling South End corner of Winnifred and Bland streets and are connected to The Railyard (with North Italia, Stir and Rhino Market, among other spots).
Now is a great time to refresh your memory of what you’ll find at the newly named Shops at the Winnifred:
- Boba Baba Cafe
- The Brown Sugar Collab
- BW Sweets Express
- The Cactus Club Co.
- Derby City Skates
- eBike Central
- Five13 Studio
- Glory Days Apparel
- Jack & Georgia
- Kika Stretch Studios
- OLPR. Leather Goods
- Outlaw Hair Co.
- Paletas Morelia
- Perfect Screen
There is one micro-retail space available.
Why the name change?
Collett Capital purchased the Centro Railyard apartments (now called The Winnifred) and the Shops at Centro Railyard in January 2021. The company worked with Charlotte-based branding and communications firm The Plaid Penguin on the new marketing. According to a press statement, the brand tells the story of:
- luxury city dwelling
- business entrepreneurship
- urban exploration.
“We are excited to reveal this new name for our unique living and shopping destination in South End,” said DuBose Williamson, principal of Collett Capital. “We believe it represents the location, taking up a full city block on Winnifred Street, and showcases the personality of the property and the residents and shop owners who call it home.”
