This local ice cream favorite moving into uptown Charlotte is now open.
You will soon be able to get your ice cream needs in the heart of the city — Golden Cow Creamery announced it’s opening its new uptown Charlotte location on Monday.
“Thank you Charlotte for supporting us over the years and allowing us the opportunity to open this shop,” the owners said via Instagram.
Alex Hannah, co-owner of Golden Cow Creamery, said last year of the shop in the Ally Charlotte Center plaza: “This is a huge step for our family owned business, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to share our ice cream with more of our neighbors.
“This location is in the heart of the action uptown, and our store will be a glass jewel box in what will become a beautiful and unique square. We have grown tremendously over the last four years, and this next step will help us continue growing alongside our thriving city,” Hannah told CharlotteFive.
Salted Oreo and Golden Waffles
It appears most of the excitement is for one of the shop’s most coveted flavors: Salted Oreo.
“Yay!!!! Congrats on the growth! Salted Oreo forever,” said Instagram user Hanna Moore.
Instagram user Ren J. feels this is a milestone for the year: “Salted Oreo is moving closer to where I live, and for once 2020 doesn’t feel so out of balance,” he commented on the post.
You’ll also find the newly launched Golden Waffles concept at the uptown location. First debuted at the creamery’s SouthPark location, the waffles are a partnership with the local business Cast Iron Waffles, which prepares the dough the creamery uses for its sweet Belgian Liege waffles.
Golden Cow Creamery, founded by North Carolina natives Alex and Liz Hannah, started as a way to share the love for homemade ice cream. The unique flavors are inspired by the state’s diverse food culture and flavors sourced from around the world. All ice cream is made by hand in small batches with real cream, milk, sugar or coconut, and you don’t have to worry about artificial syrups, bagged ice cream mix, food colorings or fillers.
Plus, you can enjoy your cone and know you’re helping the community — Golden Cow Creamery supports the community through The Queen’s Share, a program where a portion of monthly profits are donated to various local charities. These proceeds have benefited local organizations like Girls on the Run, Catawba Lands Conservancy and the Humane Society of Charlotte. And you know how it goes — if your ice cream purchase helps a good cause, it’s essentially free of calories, right?
