Where to get a Cam Newton jersey now that he’s back with the Panthers
After Cam Newton left the Carolina Panthers, his No. 1 jersey hit clearance bins all around Charlotte, destined to be buried along with his dab.
But now, Cam is back, baby — and so are his jerseys. On the day his return to Charlotte was announced, social media posts buzzed about how now was the time to snatch up a Cam jersey — before smart retailers plucked them out of clearance to put them back on the full-price shelf.
A quick glimpse at eBay shows Cam jerseys being bid on at less than $4 and others at $150 (and everything in between). But how do you know if what you’re buying is legit?
How to buy a Carolina Panthers jersey
We asked CharlotteFive’s Alex Cason to give us a few jersey shopping tips — he’s our team’s biggest Carolina Panthers fan.
Here’s what Cason says to look for when jersey shopping:
- A stitched-on name and number is a good indicator of a more authentic jersey. The reasoning is that it costs more to create, so it’s less likely to be counterfit, Cason said.
- Make sure the blue is actually Panther blue (or else you’ll stand out — and not in a good way — among the sea of fans at Bank of America Stadium on game day).
