At long last: Milkbread opens first Charlotte location in Plaza Midwood
IT’S FINALLY HERE: Milkbread has officially opened its Plaza Midwood location. The news was first reported by Unpretentious Palate.
A milkbread staff member confirmed to CharlotteFive via phone on Monday morning that the cafe’s opening had not been announced yet as it was in its soft opening phase, then the official opening was announced shortly after 12:30 p.m. Online ordering for pickup and delivery was available on Monday, Oct. 10.
The popular cafe with a walk-up window is owned by James Beard-nominated chef Joe Kindred and his wife, Katy, of Kindred and Hello, Sailor. Milkbread’s original location is in Davidson.
A few highlights on the menu at the Plaza Midwood site:
- Milk bread donuts
- Soft serve (as an ode to Dairy Queen)
- Crispy chicken
- Vegetable-forward bowls
- Coffee, espresso, golden milk lattes, ginger and warm-spice lattes and other coffee and tea-based drinks.
Once you arrive, you’ll place your order at the walk-up window and then take it with you or stay and dine at one of the cafe’s outdoor tables.
- HOURS: The restaurant is open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
- ONLINE ORDERING: On Monday, online ordering was available for pickup or delivery. Delivery hours are 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
