A beloved Charlotte restaurant is on the move: Le’s Sandwiches is now under construction
Later this spring, you’ll be able to enjoy Le’s Sandwiches in its new home — right across the street from Asian Corner Mall.
The banh mi shop has been temporarily closed, ever since Charlotte Fire officials shuttered Asian Corner Mall in early January. But soon, Le’s will move into 2,300 square feet of developer Beauxwright’s new 4,565-square-foot commercial space.
“Le’s Sandwiches & Cafe has a new home! Construction is moving right along on East Sugar Creek Road, where Charlotte’s beloved banh mi shop will open its doors once again in late spring, close to its former location,” Beauxwright announced via Instagram.
Owners Minh Quang Nguyen and Le Thi Le-Nguyen had originally put the restaurant up for sale to make way for retirement. Soon, those plans changed as their son, Tuan Nguyen, decided to take over with the continued help of his parents as they prepare to move to the nearby spot.
The menu won’t change much, but Tuan has previously told CharlotteFive that he and his wife, Emily, envision the new location as a destination space that evokes the sights and surroundings in Vietnam. Outdoor seating will be available.
For now, Minh Quang Nguyen and Le Thi Le-Nguyen are using the break to visit family in Vietnam, while Tuan makes plans for the new space, he told CharlotteFive.
