A popular NC-based taco shop is closing one of its Charlotte restaurants permanently
Say goodbye to Banh Mi Tofu and Thai Peanut Chicken tacos in Charlotte. White Duck Taco’s Belmont neighborhood location, which has been temporarily closed, will not reopen, the restaurant said in an Instagram post.
“It is with great sadness we let you know that we will not be reopening for business. We thank you for your patronage and supporting us. We opened four months before COVID and have had quite the roller coaster ride,” the post said.
The Asheville-based restaurant’s Belmont neighborhood location had opened in December 2019, with big plans for multiple locations in the Charlotte area.
The local brand is popular for its fusion take on tacos, incorporating Asian flavors and creative twists on tacos such as Jerk Chicken, Duck with Mole and Mushroom Potato with Romesco.
White Duck Taco isn’t leaving the Charlotte area altogether, however.
Its Matthews restaurant, which has been temporarily closed since an overnight fire in July, will reopen in the early spring, the statement said.
Fans are eagerly awaiting that reopening.
“We will be at the Matthews location the day it reopens in spring,” Amy Hughes Lacina said via Instagram.
“Can’t wait for the Matthews re-opening!!!!,” Kaycie Q. Foster replied on the post.
