Never fear, El Toro Bruto fans. Your favorite Charlotte breakfast tacos are relocating
Taqueria El Toro Bruto is on the move.
After Resident Culture on Thursday announced a menu switch to barbecue under the direction of executive chef Edmar Simoes, chef Hector Gonzalez-Mora posted a message via El Toro Bruto’s Instagram feed, reassuring fans of his wildly popular breakfast tacos, lunches and dinner entrees that he is not leaving Charlotte’s food scene.
“As we bid farewell to this chapter, we want to assure you all that this is not a goodbye, but rather a ‘see you soon.’ We are excited to announce that Chef Hector and El Toro Bruto will remain firmly rooted in the Charlotte culinary landscape, and we have big things planned for the future,” the message said.
It continued: “We are ready to embark on this new chapter and are committed to delivering the same bold flavors and authentic experience that you’ve come to expect from us, and we promise to maintain the same level of excellence and innovation that has become synonymous with our name. Stay tuned, as we have exciting developments and culinary adventures on the horizon.”
Gonzalez-Mora told CharlotteFive that he’s looking at several properties, so nailing down details will take a while.
“It will happen sooner rather than later, and definitely in Charlotte,” he said.
After the move, the chef also plans to focus primarily his most popular dishes — his tacos — although dinner entrees may be an option down the line. “Breakfast and lunch is my sweet spot,” Gonzalez-Mora said.
In a video with the post, Gonzalez-Mora thanked his customers, as well. “It’s truly a blessing to have people who come in multiple times, you know. Throughout the years, I feel like I’ve gotten to know people. It’s for me, a huge thing.”
