A familiar market-style restaurant is opening a third Charlotte location in 2024
A new location of The People’s Market is slated to open this summer in the former Mellow Mushroom restaurant in Myers Park, bringing sandwiches, pizza and vegan meals to the Tranquil Court development.
Look for a welcoming space where you can order breakfast, lunch or dinner, then browse specialty retail items. You can stop in every day for a coffee and handmade pastry in the morning, or sip craft cocktails or wine with dinner at night.
“We are thrilled to expand our concept to the esteemed Myers Park neighborhood,” said owner Cory Duran, who founded The People’s Market in 2017.
“Ongoing expansion is part of our business model, and this location closely matches our brand’s mission to be a family-friendly, community gathering place to eat, work, and play. Our goal remains the same: give the people what they want!”
THE FOOD: Chef Deacon Ovall will create weekly features along with sandwiches and wraps, salads, smash burgers, bar bites and plant-based options such as vegan fried chicken made with oyster mushrooms.
And, yes, you’ll be able to get the Tommy Pickles Pizza there, too, along with other favorite pies.
“We’re planning to deliver our cherished menu favorites to Myers Park, complemented by some exciting new ideas,” Duran said.
THE SPACE: The 6,000 square feet indoor-outdoor market will feature the same bright yellow accents of the Elizabeth location, with seating on a covered outdoor patio.
Free parking with will be available.
The People’s Market has operated the Elizabeth location since August 2022. Its second location at the Station at LoSo is still under construction but is also expected to open this year.
