Miss Anntony’s Caribbean Cafe in Charlotte? There’s a new lakeside location to visit

Anntony’s at the Landing offers many of the same Caribbean flavors Charlotteans have known for decades, along with lakeside-friendly sandwiches and seafood.

Charlotteans looking for longtime favorite Anntony’s can find its All Purpose Island Sauce and other tastes they’ve come to know over the decades in a new Lake Norman spot in Sherrills Ford.

Anntony’s Caribbean Cafe, founded by Dr. Tony Martin, has operated in a few different locations over the years. It was once at Pecan Point on Elizabeth Avenue and at another time at Brevard Court in uptown Charlotte. Most recently, you could eat Anntony’s on Sugar Creek Road at W.T. Harris Boulevard in a location owned by Petula Kwende.

But this year, that restaurant transformed into Anjeh’s African & Caribbean Cuisine with a fusion menu that includes Jollof Rice and oxtail.

Meanwhile, Anntony’s has found new life once more as Anntony’s at the Landing, inside the Lake Norman Landing Hotel and Marina.

Linda Moss, a co-owner who has worked with Martin for more then 30 years, has teamed up with him again at the restaurant, located in the former Landing Restaurant space. That restaurant had been among the many using Martin’s renowned Island Sauce, which helped make the connection for Anntony’s to move in.

“It’s getting harder and harder to find some of the old restaurants. They’re all gone,” Moss told CharlotteFive.

The restaurateurs have brought back the original menu, with Island Wings, pork chops and Jamaican Patties, plus Tony’s Caribbean Dinners — which comes with a choice of its popular proteins plus two sides. Diners will also find a few new appetizers and lake-friendly handhelds such as the Bahama Burger, Fried Fish Sandwich and Crab Cake Sandwich.

“We have more sandwiches and stuff on the menu because we are lakeside here,” Moss told CharlotteFive.

Other new features include a full bar, a video game room and patio space with live music in warmer months.
