After 6 years, a Charlotte restaurant will close — with one last 3-course NYE dinner

“It has been our honor to shape the Haymaker team and experience in our time here,” said executive chef Chris Coleman, a partner at Built On Hospitality.

Southern restaurant Haymaker will close after a New Year’s Eve dinner, ending a six-year run in uptown Charlotte with highly acclaimed chefs at the helm.

For the next two weeks, the restaurant will serve dinner nightly, along with weekend brunch. Its final meal on New Year’s Eve will feature three seatings of a three-course prix fixe with never-before-seen dishes alongside Haymaker favorites, put together by Built On Hospitality executive chef Chris Coleman.

Chef William Dissen, who was nominated for a James Beard Award this year for Outstanding Restaurant for The Market Place in Asheville, brought Haymaker to life in 2018. He ceding operations at Haymaker in 2023 to Built on Hospitality so he could focus on other projects, but that management contract has come to an end.

“It has been our honor to shape the Haymaker team and experience in our time here. We will continue providing the best Uptown dining experience in Haymaker’s final days, and look forward to celebrating the restaurant’s legacy and ringing in the new year on Dec. 31,” Coleman, a partner at Built On Hospitality, said in a news release.

“We are focused on the future with our growing hospitality group that includes The Goodyear House, Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails, Folia and Chief’s Modern Cocktail Parlor, along with new, exciting restaurants and hospitality partnerships to be announced soon.”

Haymaker owner Beau McIntosh added in the news release: “Built On Hospitality has been a great partner and operator at Haymaker. We are grateful for their work to elevate the restaurant over the last 18 months, and to all of Charlotte for helping us maintain our position as one of Uptown’s most highly rated restaurants over the last six years.”
