Charlotteans who have grown used to making a stop for lobster mac and cheese or chicken and waffles while shopping have only about two more weeks to indulge one last time.

Cuzzo’s Cuisine’s outpost at Charlotte Premium Outlets, an open-air shopping center with a food court, will close up shop on Sunday, Feb. 23.

“Our Year lease is up,” the restaurant posted on Instagram, noting that it would not be renewing.

The restaurant is well known around Charlotte for its creamy, decadent lobster mac and cheese, which is so popular that it’s available for ordering in a family size, along with half pan and full pan catering portions.

Other favorites at the restaurant are its shrimp and grits, and its chicken and waffles — which come in flavors such as Aunt Bungie’s Red Velvet Waffle, Grandma’s Sweet Potato Waffle and Chef Andarrio’s Peach Cobbler Waffle.

Fans jumped to comment on the post, with hopes for new locations in other spots.

“I can understand not renewing at the outlets but if you opened a brick and mortar in Steele Creek you would crush! We need more great locally owned restaurants in this area,” Kevin Chan wrote.

Commenter @liberiantoastcrunch said, “Y’all should open up somewhere on Eastside. Like near Albemarle, Plaza Midwood, NoDa or maybe near N. Tryon St./E. Sugar Creek Rd intersection.”

“Come to Concord,” Josiah Rhodes chimed in.

Cousins Andarrio Johnson and Anglee Brown started the business as a food truck in 2014, and opened two locations before the Charlotte Premium Outlets spot — on North Tryon Street in University City and another in Enderly Park on Tuckaseegee Road.

Cuzzo’s Tuckaseegee location suffered a fire in 2023, and that location has not yet reopened. The restaurant’s food truck remains active, however.
