Merchant & Trade reopens its Charlotte rooftop lounge with new COVID restrictions
Popular uptown rooftop lounge Merchant & Trade has reopened during COVID-19 to welcome patrons for socially distanced drinking, dining and entertainment. The bar, which sits on the 19th floor of the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, promises new levels of cleanliness for visitors.
Aside from enhancing existing safety and cleanliness standards, Merchant and Trade is placing special attention on food preparation and service. Social distancing is required, and will be supported by a limited number of guests at each table, which will be spaced at least 6 feet apart.
While you won’t be able to sit at the bar or at communal tables, you will be able to enjoy the expansive outdoor space overlooking the Charlotte skyline. Reservations are required.
Menu offerings will be scaled back to accommodate new COVID-19 procedures, but you can still get favorite snacks and sandwiches like Tuna Poke and the Shrimp Po-Boy, as well as draft beer, wine and housemade cocktails. Look for summer-inspired offerings like the Wind Chill (Cazadores Blanco tequila, orange juice, cinnamon, morita chili, cucumber) or the Royal Pines (gin, Dolin Blanc, pineapple, lemon, rosemary).
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
All guests and employees are required to wear face coverings at all times, except while seated for eating and drinking. Group reservations are permitted for groups up to 10 people, and individual reservations are required, as well.
Merchant and Trade is following all coronavirus health and safety protocols and will be using EPA-registered cleaning products for high-touch areas (door handles, pickup counters) and workspaces. Employees will be screened for signs of illness and will be asked to stay home if deemed appropriate. Frequent hand-washing and sanitization of work stations are required, and all employees will be provided PPE such as masks and gloves.
In addition, pickup entrances and exits will support physical distancing and all packaging for pickup and delivery orders will be clean, secure and clearly labeled.
In accordance with the statewide executive order from North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, the rooftop bar is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5-11 p.m.
The hotel’s restaurant, Angeline’s, is also open for onsite dining (dining room and patio), pickup and delivery from 5-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5-11 p.m. Friday through Saturday.
